Do you prefer liquid kratom or kratom powder? This is a common question a first-timer will undoubtedly encounter. People who are looking to increase the benefits of kratom will also consider this as well, should they decide to switch. We decided to break down the myth behind each form of kratom to gain a better understanding of how to enjoy the botanical.
Differentiating Liquid Kratom from Kratom Powder
1. Effectiveness
The liquid kratom extract is considered more potent than kratom powder. This is because there are more alkaloids extracted to produce a liquid kratom as compared to the kratom by-product produced, by crushing or finely grinding the leaves. Alkaloids are the active ingredients in kratom that elicit the very benefits you are already familiar with. As such, it only takes a less amount of kratom leaf to produce a certain amount of extract as compared to producing the same amount of powder.
2. Product Comparison
Liquid kratom is considered the easiest form when you want to enjoy the botanical’s benefits. This kratom form is typically stored in a 15ml glass bottle, and comes with a dropper to gauge and get the desired dosage. For first-timers, you can take a drop or two directly or in your favorite food or drink.
On the other hand, powdered kratom is also quite versatile. Some people would just mix the powdered kratom into food or drinks, or create a soft paste. The paste is made by combining a single dose to the right amount of water. Once the paste is done, you can take one spoonful at a time until you consume it all.
3. But What About Good Extracts?
The effects of a liquid kratom depend on two things: the source leaves’ strain and the concentration rating. Ultra Enhanced Indo Kratom strains, for example, contain 25% ultra-concentrated version of the botanical and can be overpowering for the first-timer. Dependency to this kind of kratom strains could occur in a short period.
If you’re a first-timer, it is recommended to start using the kratom powder. This way, you won’t build a high tolerance to the botanical at the onset. You can safely work your way to a more potent dosage later on.
4. Preparation
When it comes to preparation, creating powdered kratom is easier. Just get the source leaves, crush and grind until they turn into fine powder. You can also put the source leaves in the pepper mill or a food processor to make the grinding easier. Make sure though, that the source leaves and the grinding equipment are completely dry. Otherwise, you’ll end up creating mulched kratom.
As for liquid kratom, it requires a person with a certain level of lab and product expertise to produce one, while extracting the maximum alkaloid count safely. First, the source leaves are dissolved in an ethanol-water mixture. Then, an extraction process is done to ensure all alcohol and water-soluble alkaloids are retrieved. This alkaloid-full extract is called “full-spectrum” as the liquid fully preserves the efficacy and range of the kratom leaves.
5. Dosage
Kratom fans know there is no standard dosage. As such, your first introduction to kratom will be conservative and will require experimentation as you go along. If you prefer liquid kratom, the recommended dose to start is one dropper full. Frequent kratom users will not go above two droppers. If you prefer the powdered form, start with 1 to 3 grams. If you want to feel a stimulant effect, a good middle dose is somewhere along 3 to 5 grams.
6. Economics
Naturally, liquid kratom is more expensive than powdered kratom. The price will also go up, depending on the type of kratom strain and the potency. A kratom full spectrum tincture or any liquid kratom in the 10x to 20x range, for example, can be more expensive than the powdered variety. This is because the amount of source leaves used in producing them is more significant than the kratom powder in the same gram-equivalent volume.
7. Popularity
Regulars always go for liquid kratom simply because there are variants in potency levels that could give the mood enhancement benefits they wanted. Liquid kratom is also fast-acting, but some versions tend to fade sooner than anticipated. On the other hand, kratom powder is quite flexible when it comes to introducing it as a daily herbal. The effects are just enough for some people to give them a quick boost of energy or calmness, to help them deal with the day ahead.
Whichever is your choice, do note that it does not matter which kratom form you’ll prescribe. Liquid kratom and kratom powder offers the same benefits, depending on your dose and frequency. As you continue enjoying the benefits of kratom regularly, do mind how much and how often you prescribe to this botanical to avoid increasing your tolerance.
